Hi beautiful souls! ♡
I don’t eat first thing in the morning.
I know that probably sounds a little strange to some people, but honestly, I’ve learned to listen to what my body tells me. I’m a slow riser, and my tummy simply isn’t interested in food when I first wake up.
After I get up and get myself ready for the day, I usually make myself a warm cup of golden milk. Then I take a little time to sit quietly, contemplate, meditate, or simply ease into my morning before the busyness of the day begins.
I usually eat breakfast sometime in the middle of the morning.
Don’t judge me.
It’s what works for me.

One of my favorite things to have when I’m ready for something to eat is black chia seed pudding with fresh fruit. It’s light, creamy, easy to prepare ahead of time, and feels like such a lovely little treat without being too heavy.
And I love that I can change it up depending on what fruit I have on hand or what’s in season.
Before I share my recipe, I thought I’d share a few reasons chia seeds have become such a popular addition to nourishing everyday meals.
Why I Love Adding Chia Seeds to My Diet
Chia seeds may be tiny, but they contain quite a bit of nutritional goodness. They provide fiber, healthy fats, minerals, and antioxidants, making them an easy ingredient to add to all kinds of meals.
A Little Something for Your Heart
Chia seeds are a plant-based source of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), an omega-3 fatty acid. Omega-3 fats are an important part of a balanced diet and can support overall cardiovascular health.
Gentle Support for Digestion
One of the things chia seeds are best known for is their fiber content.
Fiber is important for healthy digestion and regularity, and it can also help you feel satisfied after eating. Since chia seeds are so easy to add to meals, they’re a simple way to bring a little more fiber into your day.
Nourishing Your Bones
Chia seeds also contain minerals such as calcium and magnesium.
Both are important nutrients for maintaining healthy bones and supporting many of the body’s everyday functions.
Naturally Rich in Antioxidants
Chia seeds also contain antioxidants, which help protect cells from oxidative stress.
I love foods that offer a little nutritional goodness while also being incredibly simple to enjoy. Chia seeds definitely fall into that category for me.
Easy Ways to Enjoy Chia Seeds
You don’t need to make chia pudding every morning to enjoy them. There are lots of simple ways to add them to your meals.
Add them to smoothies.
Toss a spoonful into your favorite smoothie for some extra fiber and nutrients.
Bake with them.
Try adding chia seeds to muffins, homemade bread, granola, or other baked treats.
Make chia pudding.
This is probably my favorite way to enjoy them. Once you make it, you have breakfast waiting for you in the refrigerator.
Sprinkle them on salads.
They add a little texture and nutrition without changing the flavor very much.
Add them to breakfast bowls.
Try them over oatmeal, yogurt, or a bowl of fresh fruit.
And now for one of my favorite ways to enjoy them…
Black Chia Seed Pudding With Fresh Fruit
This recipe is incredibly simple. In fact, the hardest part is remembering to make it the night before!
What You’ll Need
- 1 mason jar or similar container with a secure lid with approximately a 3-cup capacity
- 1/2 cup black chia seeds (You can buy by the pound at some natural grocers)
- 1 can (13.5 ounces) culinary coconut milk, approximately 2 cups — not coconut water (I love Trader Joe’s brand)
- 1 teaspoon pink Himalayan salt (for it’s amazing health properties)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla paste or vanilla extract (I love Trader Joe’s Vanilla Bean Paste)
- 1/4 cup agave nectar
How to Make It
Add the chia seeds, coconut milk, salt, vanilla, and agave nectar to your mason jar.
Put the lid on tightly and give everything a good shake until the ingredients are well combined.
Sometimes the chia seeds like to cling to the sides of the jar. If that happens, simply open the jar, scrape them down with a spoon, put the lid back on, and give it another little shake.
Place the jar in the refrigerator overnight.
That’s it!
By morning, you’ll have a creamy chia pudding ready to enjoy.
My Favorite Way to Serve It
When I’m ready for breakfast, I scoop about 1/4 to 1/2 cup of chia pudding into a bowl and add whatever sounds good that day.
Fresh strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, bananas, peaches, mangoes… whatever I happen to have.
I’ll sometimes add a handful of nuts or seeds, too. And if I’m feeling like I want a little extra crunch, I’ll sprinkle some granola on top.
There really isn’t a right or wrong way to make your bowl.
That’s part of what I love about it.
You can make it completely your own.

A Gentle Reminder to Listen to Your Own Body
One of the things I’ve learned over the years is that taking care of ourselves doesn’t always have to look the way we think it should.
Maybe you’re a person who wakes up hungry and loves a big breakfast.
Maybe you’re like me and need a little time before food sounds appealing.
Maybe your mornings are quiet and slow, or maybe they’re wonderfully chaotic.
We’re all different.
For me, there’s something comforting about knowing I have this little jar of chia pudding waiting in the refrigerator. I don’t have to think about what I’m going to make when I finally get hungry. I can simply grab a bowl, add some colorful fruit, and give myself a nourishing little moment in the middle of my morning.
And sometimes, those simple little moments are the ones that make the biggest difference.
So make yourself a batch, add your favorite fruits, sit somewhere cozy, and enjoy it slowly.
And remember, you don’t have to rush your way through the morning.
Give yourself permission to ease into your day in a way that feels good to you. ♡
With love,
Yvette
